Terms of use
These cover the website and the waitlist — nothing more. The app will carry its own terms of service when it ships in September.
Effective August 5, 2026
What these terms cover
This website, tangentsocial.com, and the waitlist that lives on it — nothing else. When the Tangent app ships, it will have its own terms of service, and you'll see those before you use it. Joining the waitlist doesn't sign you up for anything beyond this page.
The waitlist
Joining the waitlist means we may email you about Tangent — launch news, and your invite when it's ready. That's what your email is for, and that's all it's for.
Two ground rules: the waitlist is for current or incoming UofT students, and it's one signup per person. You can unsubscribe at any time, and if you'd rather we delete your signup entirely, write to hello@tangentsocial.com and we will. What we do with your email in the meantime is spelled out in the privacy policy.
The site is provided as-is
Tangent is a pre-launch product run by a student team, and this site describes something still being built. Everything on it — including launch timing — can change as the product develops. We work to keep it accurate, but we can't promise the site will always be available or error-free.
No abuse
Keep it honest: don't submit someone else's email address, don't spam the form, and don't try to break the site or reach anything behind it.
What belongs to Tangent
The Tangent name, the mark, and the content of this site belong to Tangent. You're welcome to link to the site and share it — just don't pass any of it off as your own.
Law and questions
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and Canada. Questions about any of this go to hello@tangentsocial.com — a person reads it.
