Community guidelines

Ten rules, short on purpose.

Tangent is for making friends. That works only if every conversation is safe to walk into blind.

These guidelines are shown at onboarding, and agreeing to them is part of joining — before the first window, before the first conversation.

  1. Be the person worth meeting. Kindness beats cleverness.
  2. Friendship first. Nobody here owes you romance, photos, or their socials. Ask once, accept the answer.
  3. No harassment, hate, or slurs. Not as jokes either.
  4. No sexual content or advances. This is not that app, and everyone here chose an app that isn't.
  5. No pressure to move off-app or meet up. Off-app is where things go when both people want it there.
  6. Meet in public places first. Daylight, campus, coffee — the boring options are the right first options.
  7. Be real. One account, your real self, no impersonation, students only.
  8. No spam, promo, or recruiting. People aren't an audience.
  9. Report what crosses a line — one tap, during or after any session. Blocking is instant and never announced.
  10. Breaking these gets you warned, suspended, or banned. Serious harm gets you banned on the first confirmed report.

Enforcement

Consequences are real. The ladder is warn, suspend, ban — and serious harm skips the ladder entirely: a ban on the first confirmed report.

Every report is reviewed by a person. Reporting takes one tap during or after any session, and nobody is ever told who reported them.
